On July 26, the Head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov met the UAE Ambassador to Russia Mohammad Ahmad Al-Jaber at Makhachkala airport. As part of a sightseeing tour of the tourist and recreational infrastructure of the region, Sergey Melikov showed Mohammad Ahmad Al-Jaber one of the main natural attractions of Dagestan – the Sulak Canyon. This is the deepest canyon in Europe and one of the deepest in the world. Its length is 53 kilometers, and the depth reaches 1920 meters. Then the head of the republic and the UAE Ambassador to Russia visited the sanatorium "Caspian", located on the shore of the Caspian Sea. On the territory of the sanatorium, the ambassador got acquainted with the tourist potential of the republic. Minister of Tourism and Folk Arts of the Republic of Dagestan Emin Merdanov spoke about the main tourist attractions of Dagestan. The UAE Ambassador to Russia was also shown the wealth of Dagestan's folk arts and crafts: Tabasaran carpets, Botlikh papakhas, Balkhar ceramics, Kizlyar knives, Untsukul products and Kaitag embroidery. Then Mohammad Ahmad Al-Jaber was given a tour of the Caspian sanatorium, where he got acquainted with the construction of new recreation areas for guests.
