Description

E. Kapiyev Lak Music and Drama Theater is a cultural institution in Makhachkala. It is situated on Rasul Gamzatov Avenue, 38, in the same building as the Russian Drama Theatre named after M. Gorky. The theater dates back to the amateur circle of the Lak intelligentsia, which began its work in the village of Kumukh of the Kazi-Kumukh District in 1914. The Dagestani Lak Drama Theatre, named after Eduard Kapiev, opened in early 1935. At its official opening, the company staged G. Saidov's social drama The Tinkers, which told the tale of the hard life of Lak bushmen. The theater also pays attention to the problem of educating the younger generation - its young audience. As a rule, it is always a good drama, and the best creative forces of the theater take part in its scenic embodiment.
