Description
The Chirkeyskoye reservoir is an object created artificially in 1974, during the construction of the hydroelectric power station of the same name and is the largest reservoir in Dagestan. Today this place is one of the most picturesque in Dagestan. The Chirkeyskaya hydroelectric power station is located on the Sulak River in the Republic of Dagestan. It is the largest hydroelectric power station in the North Caucasus and the highest arch dam in Russia. It is built in a narrow Chirkeysky gorge with a depth of more than 200 m, a width of 12-15 m at the bottom, 300 m at the top.
