Araninskaya krepost'

Description

The Aranin fortress is a fortification built in the 19th century to strengthen Russian power in Dagestan. The fortress is one of the largest and well-preserved objects of cultural heritage of the republic. It is located on the high-mountainous Khunzakh plateau in the village of Arani. Two waterfalls Tobot and Itlyatlyar rustle nearby and stunning views of the Tsolotlinsky canyon open up. Araninskaya fortress has been preserved in good condition and is one of the largest in size in Dagestan. From the outside, the fortress resembles a small town, framed on all sides by powerful fortress walls with outbuildings and independent buildings erected on the territory itself.
